There Was a Wedding

I realize I haven't been her much but...

There was a Wedding.

Good Looking's niece Ashley was married to her perfect match Chase one Saturday.

Believe it or not, I did some sewing for the event.

I am thinking that this story might have to be broken up into a few posts.

Let's see what should we start with?

How about the dresses I sewed.

It was only six dresses, three tutus, and one skirt,
nothing close to the twenty two I did before.

Dress number one was a Jr. Bridesmaid dress.
Ashley's step sister needed  a dress.
I volunteered my services.

I remembered as she was walking down the aisle,
that I never took a picture of her, or the dress.
Then I forgot to get another picture of it.

Front and Back.

The bridesmaids had floor length gowns, so I did the same for her.
It was fabulous, I should have taken better pics.

The flower girls were spoiled rotten in raw silk.

Front and Back
Again with the floor length.

The pattern is by Susan Stewart, it is my new favorite.
The original pattern had pleats in the bodice,
but the bride did not like them, or the sleeves.

They are beautiful beyond compare.

Now my other girls were not officially part of the wedding.

I couldn't just let them show up in anything.

I mean emerald green was the wedding color,
and if you know the wedding color,
and you are going to be in the pictures you should match right.

(in the following pictures the dresses look teal, but they are really emerald green)

Baubi got this "retro" dress.
it is a simplicity pattern that looks like it has been discontinued
 because I couldn't find it.

Gowyn wanted this dress because it has pockets in the front.
See how you can't see her thumb, that is where the pocket is.

It is so cute and fluffy.
I love that Susan Stewart.

I made myself a pleated satin skirt.

I was looking for a picture,
but the only ones I could find were of me sitting down.

You can't get a good idea from me sitting down.

The girls are in the tub and I need to get them ready for bed,
so I will tell you about the tutus later.

They are fabulous.

My state Fair Report

Every year I enter the Utah State fair.
This is my report on how I did this year.

I only entered seven things this year into the state fair.

I say only because I have been known to enter like twenty things before.
The problem with why so few is because Lala and Baby Sister
are close to being in the same size category.
Also I was a bit lazy this year and didn't make Easter dresses.

I entered the girls Christmas dresses and Gowyn's skirt.

They all won blue ribbons.

Won a blue ribbon.

Her Other dress however got a red ribbon or a second place.

I was not at all happy about it.

I did in fact yell at the top of my lungs upon entering the building,
and seeing this perfect dress with a red ribbon hanging from it.

"How could that dress get a second place"

Good Looking had to calm me down.

It's true.

I only entered one costume in the fair this year.

It took a third place ribbon.
It lost to another Belle costume.
I still think mine was better.

I only entered one quilt and it was this one that I made with Grandma Kath.
It got NOTHING, not even an honorable mention.
I know that I am new to quilting and this is a tough category,
but come on throw me a bone or something.

I have said this before and it is true.

"I never thought of myself as a competitive person until I entered the state fair."

I know that I take it way to personally, but still a second place on Lala's dress.

Are they crazy?

Did they not get enough sleep the night before?

OK
 OK
 I will let it go.

The four blue ribbons that I got,
did bring me up to over fifty blue ribbons.

I guess I should look at the bright side.

Have you ever entered the fair?
What is your ribbon count?

Baby sister's skirt

Here is baby sister's skirt. I first made this skirt last year for her third birthday, I have made quite a few since. It has a total of five skirts, over skirt, three tulle skirts, two with ribbons, and the underskirt.
The over skirt has a ruffle on the hem, I used my ruffler foot to attach it.

If you look closely you might be able to see the surprise hiding in the bottom tulle layer.

Sparkles! I made the bottom tulle skirt like an envelope to hold the confetti sparkles. The sparkles make this really cute sound when she is running and twirling and I love it. All in all it was a great Valentines day, the balloons are still floating and the girls have tried sucking the helium out of them. Now on to St Patricks day. Also I am hoping to get Easter started early this year, wish me luck on that one. :)

Lala's skirt

If you are following along at home we talked about Gowyns skirt yesterday. I told you about how I made it the night before her school party. Lala has afternoon kindergarten so I made hers the morning of her party. I know nothing like the last minute.

I basically made a tiered skirt with ruffles and ric-rack. I made a slip with a ruffle for the under skirt.

I think this might be my new favorite skirt, don't be surprised if you see one for St Patrick's day, Memorial day, Forth of July, etc.

Valentine's Day

How was your Valentine's day?
My girls go to a charter school so they celebrated Friday.
I almost forgot that yesterday was the celebration day.

I of course made skirts. Baubi has decided that she is too cool for Valentine's skirts, and also has decided that the whole holiday in general sucks. Her grouchy teenager self is coming out, or maybe it is the fact that you don't get parties in Jr. high. Any way that is why she is not playing the game and not in these pictures.

I really liked how they turned out. each one different but all made out of the same fabrics.

Also look how great they are for twirling.

Until next year, I hope that everyday is filled with love and that you are shown love in return.
I will be back later with details on each skirt.
Now go kiss your sweety.
