Christmas in July

Have you heard about this party going on?

I thought it would be so much fun to play along.

You may remember this post.

I did have my swap, and I did get my fabrics.

 They were adorable and just what I needed.

The only problem was that it was only 200 fabrics.

I know one would think that would be enough.

For a normal person that would be enough.

My quilt however requires 525 circles.

I really wanted 525 different circles.

I did finally start making my circles.

Aren't they adorable.

I made them this past week while on vacation.

They were used as the poker chips.

I hear that the red ones were worth the least, and the blue the most.

I finished the last of the circles last night.

I was at the hospital with Good Looking.

He thought it might be fun to throw out his back 10 days ago.

Since it wasn't getting any better we spent eight hours at the ER.

Good times....good times.

He has two, not one but two blown disks.

The good news is that the last of the circles are done.

They are air drying on the deck.

It shouldn't take long since it is 95 degrees outside.

I sprayed them with the homemade starch

It was faster then painting them with the starch, and worked fabulous.

One of my favorites, because with a name like Robyn...

I know you want some for yourself.

You may not have a need for 525 circles but you know you want

at least 200 4" squares.

The rules are as follows

Go to the store, or to your stash and get 10 Christmas fabrics

You will need 1/4 yard or a fat quarter of each one.

Cut them up into 20 4" squares.

I provided you with a tutorial here.

Show your love for me by sorting them into twenty separate piles.

Although I love doing these swaps, I do not love touching 2,000 separate pieces of fabric.

Place your precious cargo into a self addressed stamped envelope.

Send it to me, I will shuffle them around, 

and send you back 200 different fabrics for all of your Christmas crafting needs.

My Quilt Story and a Swap

I am featured to day on Quilt Story.

Go check me out, I am talking about my Jeweled Wedding Ring quilt. 

If you do go check it out you will see that I am wanting to make this quilt again.

I know, I would be the crazy one.

I want to make a Christmas quilt.

I want the red rings to be green.

The white centers to stay white and

all the joining pieces to be red.

For the petals I will make them green and then quilt them like holly leaves

For the circles I want to have all different Christmas fabrics.

I think they will look like lights on the Christmas tree branches.

Won't it be adorable.

I went to picnik and played way to long and made a mock up.

Squint a little it might look better.

So even though I am still waiting on two packages from my first swap,

and even though I still haven't filled up Patty's swap,

 I am going to have a Christmas swap.

No colors to assign.

Nothing specific just as long as it is Christmas.

This is the plan gather 10 Christmas fabrics.(1/4 yard or fat quarter)

They can be from your stash or new from the store.

Cut them into 20, 4" squares send them to me by November 1,

and you will get in return 200 all different Christmas fabrics.

You can use them for a Christmas quilt of your own.

You can make stockings out of them.

You can use them to decorate your Christmas tree.

You can use them to make Christmas cards.

You can join me in making my Christmas Jeweled Wedding Ring quilt.

Because, I know you want to.

I think this will be fun I am hoping to get three swaps,

because it will take over 600 circles to make my quilt,

and I don't want any repeats.

I Made It

This quilt contest is over.

My quilt is one of the finalists for the Riley Blake design contest.

I am so excited that I made the cut.

Now the real work begins.

Just for fun I thought that you might want to hear the stats on this little beauty.

It measures roughly 90" square

It has 525 circles

64 petals

Each circle has about 25 basting stitches and

30 applique stitches

Each petal has about 63 stitches

So in total, without counting the binding that is a grand total of...

32,907 stitches.

No wonder my fingers hurt.

We went to a local quilt show, and since Riley Blake is a local company they had the bike on display.

Isn't it just about the cutest thing, Baby Sister isn't so bad either.

Let the Games Begin

It is DONE!!!

I got it back from my quilter's on Tuesday,

Thank the heaven's above for this lovely world of blogging, because it totally saved my life this week.

If you are ever wondering, or needing to know how to bind a quilt, or make it look like you have bound a quilt in a day here is the tutorial for you.

There is this amazing stuff called fusible thread, totally saved my life, and good news Gutermann makes it and you can get it at Joann's. When I first saw this tutorial I thought it might be hard to find, but there it was, and there I was with my 50% off coupon to get it.

It is my new best friend, we are going to get along great.

I am glad that it is done, and after entering the contest yesterday I am almost done hand sewing down the binding. I guess it will give me something to do tomorrow while Gowyn is getting ear surgery for the third time. She is getting the tubes back in. I really hope this is the last time because, seriously she is 10. I really don't want to be watching her kids when she is 30 getting her fifth set in.



Now I just have to wait and see if I made the cut.

If I did I might have to have a give away to bribe ask you for your votes.

It's Gone

My quilt is gone.

It is off to the quilters.

I should have it back latter this week, so I can get the binding done.

I think I just might make the deadline after all.

I wanted to get it to the quilter in time, so I traced where they are suppose to go.

I did get some done

Look how cute they are going to be.

I can hardly wait to get it back and get it done.

Good Looking is really looking forward to this project being done.

He wants his house back in order.
